What is LM™-LLLT?
LM™-LLLT a light-based photo biomodulation technology, was first developed by NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) in the 90's for wound healing of astronauts in space. It is more recently patented for medical use in the area of ophthalmology.
This light technology is used not only in dry eye treatment, it is also used in:

How does LM™-LLLT work?
Different from IPL (Intense Pulse Light – another great option for dry eye treatment), heat or thermal conduction is not the main element in treating dry eye with LM™-LLLT, though mild and comfortable warmth is experienced during treatment with LLLT.
IPL uses heat to liquefy the solidified meibum or oil that clogs up the meibomian glands that produce lipid for tear layer protection. When normal lipid production is reduced or obstructed, our tears will evaporate faster causing dry eye.
Whereas in LLLT, LED lights with the specific wavelength are emitted by LED light diodes to stimulate the release of ATP, which are vital energy blocks required for optimum cellular functions.
In healthy human cells, ATP energy is released naturally by the mitochondria for wholesome cell function. With LLLT, this in turn helps in cell rejuvenation and regulation of tear production.
